The Challenge
Managing a consolidation network across hundreds of vendor origins requires coordination that email, spreadsheets, and standalone TMS platforms cannot handle at scale. Store requests were unclear. Vendor capacity was untracked. Load building was entirely manual. The result was a high direct-load ratio driving excess transportation cost across the network with no visibility into where the waste was accumulating.
What We Built
Vantage 9 automated load building and vendor coordination across the full consolidation network, connecting vendor shipment data to destination schedules and integrating directly with the existing TMS. Lane management was digitized, load data flowed automatically between systems, and the manual coordination that had previously consumed team capacity was replaced with structured digital workflows.
The Outcome
In the first fiscal year, the retailer saved more than $6 million in transportation cost. The consolidation network managed over 1,600 trailers and 215,000 shopping carts, achieving a 51% trailer consolidation ratio — a result that would not have been possible without automated load building and real-time network visibility.
